Whiplash Injury: this injury occurs when a force is applied at speed resulting in uncontrolled joint translation to extremes for example during a road traffic collision. The resultant ligament and muscle strain in the neck or back can leave the patient in extreme pain. With the therapeutic techniques at our disposal we are able to quickly relieve pain and restore normal movement patterns. Post-op rehab: All of our therapists have experience in rehabilitating patients post-operatively. Whether you have had a rotator cuff repair, shoulder debridement, ACL reconstruction, Achilles repair, knee replacement, shoulder replacement, hip replacement, ankle replacement, post-fracture or carpal tunnel release, we have the expertise to treat you.

What people think? After suffering backache all weekend I contacted Leyland Physiotherapy early evening yesterday. Got an appointment for lunch time today. As I was very early the lovely reception ladies made me a mug of tea. Then Liz took me for my first appointment. What a lovely lady, could have spent ages talking to her about fellwalking. She was so professional and at last I feel I am getting somewhere with dealing with aches and pains. Would definitely recommend and if I need further treatment, I will definitely return to them.

Pilates: Pilates is a form of exercise focusing on balance, strength, posture and flexibility. It is suitable for people of all ages and abilities when taught by a trained practitioner. At Leyland Physiotherapy we incorporate Pilates extensively to rehabilitate core strength and prevent further injury especially in back pain patients. Exercise rehabilitation: Every patient is provided with a tailored exercise programme aimed at alleviating pain, restoring normal strength and endurance and therefore hopefully preventing a reoccurrence of injury. We have light weight resistance, balance equipment and mobility aids on site to help in the teaching process. See additional info at Physiotherapy Leyland.

It is thought that the shockwaves activate C nerve fibres which release a specific substance (substance P) in the tissue and in the spinal cord. This substance is responsible for the slight discomfort during and after shockwave treatment. However, with prolonged activation, C fibres become incapable for some time of releasing substance P. Less Substance P in tissue, means less pain for the patient! NICE guidance 2009 recommends Shockwave for the treatment of chronic tendon injuries especially Achilles ,Tennis elbow and Plantar Fasciitis. We are one of the few private physiotherapy clinics in Lancashire able to offer this specialist therapy .Very competitively priced at only £65 per session, this is an amazing treatment… DON’T SUFFER any longer.

Leyland Physiotherapy was originally started by Mrs Jenny Wood back in 1982. Because of the hard work she put in, and the great success she had with patients, the practice quickly grew and expanded into being one of the most trusted Physiotherapy providers in Lancashire. Our physiotherapy centre is located not far from Junction 28 of the M6 motorway. We have off street parking for those visiting us by car. Regular bus services operate via the B5256 Leyland Way – we are just a short walk from the nearest stop. Discover additional info on leylandphysio.co.uk.
